Book Week

I am The Cat In The Hat. And I am so famous that I have a book and even an amazing movie all about ME. My amazing movie is about me coming to some random person’s house and totally not annoying them. We had a lot of fun. I even showed them the thing’s. (thing one and thing two). I am getting a little scared though because there is this person called the Queen of Hearts and she is very strict. She already took Charlie Bucket’s head off. She uses Jack Sparrow to kill everyone.

There are also a lot of unicorns here and a massive bunny!

If you could live the life of a book character who would it be.

The School of Science

As we walked up the dark crowded hall way we came to a dead end. “Back we go,” Ms Tirtilas sighed. Tuesday the seventh of August, 4T were visiting the senior school science lab to learn about the properties of metals

Back down the corridor we went and into a large, bright and warm room. “Welcome everyone, you can come in, get your lab coat on then take a seat,” Mick explained as we all came into the room. “Time to start the reactions.

Have you ever done a experiment? If so tell me about it in a comment.

Hands On Science

This term we are learning about science and the topic is ‘Material Matters’

Last week we participated in a school visit from hands on science we did lots of experiments including an absorbency test, a flammability test, a strength test and making a latex disc.

My favourite experiment was the abaorbancy experiment which was testing which materials absorbed water the fastest. Dri-fit which is a Nike made material was the quickest to absorb the water.

Here is the science report for what we did:

Aim:

To see which material absorbs the water the fastest.

Hypothesis:

I hypothesise that the dri-fit material will absorb the water the fastest because dri-fit absorbs sweat quickly.

Variables:

Measure: how long it takes for materials to absorb the water.

Change: the materials

Same: the speed of your counting, the amount of water and the size of the material.

Materials:

•water

•materials (dri-fit, cotton, nylon wool, plastic, nomex)

•a timer

Method:

  1. Choose a material and drop a tiny bit of water on it. When the water drops on the material start the timer.
  2. When the material absorbs the water stop the timer and repeat for the next material.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE MATERIAL DOESN’T ABSORB THE WATER

If the material doesn’t absorb the water stop the timer after 1 minute to 3 minutes and record the time on the timer with a ‘+’ after it.

(For example: 3min+)

What experiment in this post would you like to do your self?

Future Advice for Future year 4’s

Dear Future Year 4’s,

in this post I am going to tell you some advice for the year 4 camp at Mt Evelyn.

My first bit of advice would be don’t worry about being away from your family because for all the two nights and three days you are doing so many exciting activities that you won’t even think about them.

my second piece of advice is even if you think you don’t want to go to the top of the giant swing you’ll be perfectly safe and it is so fun when you just glide down.

i hope some of this advice will help you on camp.

this is a video that recaps camp in 30 seconds. Hope you enjoy!

What are you most looking forward to at the Mt Evelyn camp?

C Celebrates Literature Day

“Ohh!” Mr Ingles shouted in excitement as I face plant into the crash mat. 9th of May 2018, the whole of year 4 doing three exciting Specky Magee activities on C Celebrates Literature Day. “So close Patto, better luck next time!” Mr Ingles said encouragingly. I jump off the crash mat and Jack handpasses the hard rubber into my hands. “Beep, now everyone go to their next activity,” we all hear Mr Ingles shout. My next activity was the long kick. I pick up the wet, hard rubber ball and look up at the goals 20 metres away. I drop the ball on my foot and kick it. It went high up into the air going forward and forward and then into the goals!

What is your favourite sport? Tell me a bit a pbout if you play it competitively or anything else interesting down below.

ANZAC Poem

ANZAC Day is a national holiday in Australia. We commemorate the soldiers that went to war by stopping for one minute in silence to remember the soldiers that gave us freedom and gave up their lives.

Here is a poem I wrote from the point of view of an ANZAC soldier in Gallipoli:

I understand this is not an adventure but I can’t back out so fast.
I dream to come home to my family with peace and love in the world.
I try to understand what my parents must be thinking.
I hope I don’t get hurt in this horrible experience.
I pretend to be fine, but really I’m scared and will be scarred for life.
I feel like crying but I know that I have to stay strong.
I worry we won’t make it through.
I cry, “Don’t let everyone down,” over and over to myself.
I see an explosion far east, “They’re coming!” I hear everyone shout.
I want to go home and see my happy family again.
I am an ANZAC soldier.
Do you have any family members that where in the war? What were there role?

Community Service

CLAP CLAP CLAP! A loud audience erupts into applause. My fingers start moving of the neck and body of my guitar. 4T are at a nursing home for community service on the 26/3/2018. I stop and hesitantly bow. An even louder audience explodes into applause. I feel proud, I hope that I didn’t mess up too many notes!

We’re all moving around the small room traveling to meet the residents at the nursing home. I come over to an old lady and ask her a few questions and read her my autobiography poem. Next I read her a book that I got from the library back at school. I next go to a quiet lady and ask her some questions and read her my autobiography poem.

Next second I realise there is a violin playing. A round of applause starts to fill the room. Another violinist comes to the stage. They finish and an exploding applause fills the air. We will be visiting them once a term, I’m very excited for next term!

Do you play an instrument? What is it and why did you choose that instrument.
