We have been reading a story called ‘Amal Unbound’. (She lives in Pakistan) It’s about a young girl that loves reading and wants to become a teacher when she’s older. Then she has an unexpected encounter with the landlord. We are up to the part when she has been taken to the landlord’s house to be a servant and has finally made some friends at the home. I won’t tell you anymore so you can have some surprises if you read the book.

The cover of the book has many symbols on it which represent Amal’s experiences, hopes and dreams. We created our own front cover with symbols that represent ourselves.

On the right hand the two soccer jerseys mean I am afraid of some of my favourite players retiring. On the left hand the maths symbols mean I love maths, the musical notes mean I love playing instruments, the dog means I have a dog and I love him, the controller and ‘fortnite’ represents that I like gaming and especially the game fortnite. All the people mean that I love my family, the soccer net and soccer ball mean I really enjoy playing soccer (as a goalie). The lips on the right hand mean that I am afraid of not being able to talk because I am very good at it, hahaha. The rainbow and the sun represent my happiness.
