Convict Day Recount

“William Brice,” Magistrate Mitchell called out. I nervously walked up to the front of the room as another William Brice joined me. 19 June, Metcalf hall, Australia. We have a day called Convict Day because year 4 have been learning about the first fleet and early explorers.                      “So there are two of you are there?” asked Magistrate Mitchell.                    “Yes,” I answered tentatively.                                                                                      “Say sir!” Magistrate Mitchell shouted.                                                                “Yes sir,” I replied.                                                                                                         Magistrate Mitchell talked with us for a while about our crimes and what we stole. When I said I stole a looking glass he asked me if I liked to look but I repilied ‘no.’ He than told us that we would be transported for 7 years to Batany Bay where there would be no looking glasses. “7 years it is!” Magistrate Mitchell shouted confidently as he banged his hammer in the table.

how would you feel if you got sentenced to 7 years of transportation to an unknown land?
